Top Ten?

For a while I’ve struggled with photographing my quilts, so today I was reading an article written by Jerrianne E.’s husband and he recommended taking pictures outside and waiting for somewhat “defused” lighting. I will add timing is everything; in the short time I was trying to take photos today the sun kept hopping in and out from behind the clouds. I do like the photos I took today versus the ones that I took in the house at night.

I finally finished my binding on my Arkansas Crossroads and I love this quilt, I think it is in the top ten of ones I like the most, my only regret is that it isn’t a little bigger, but I will say that since I was limited on my outer border it was a big as I could have made it without having to change my fabric choices. I love my “thirties” themed quilts, they bring back fond memories of my Granny Marie and they just make me smile when I see them.

I also finished another one of my Summer Blooms from the 2013 Primitive Gatherings mini blocks using Valdani threads, they are nice to work with. I’m chipping away. I think it takes longer to prep it than it does to do all the stitching, but they sure are cute little things. So it will be worth it in the end.

I signed up to take another computer class through the Lakeview Quilt guild Friday and Saturday, this time I was trying to learn Electric Quilt v7. This is a quilt design software program; there sure is a lot to learn and to think this is the 3rd day this week for me to be in school. I’m glad I’m done for now.

While the teacher went around helping others or I was behind trying to catch up or I gave up I stitched on some of my first block of my SBOW from Primitive Gatherings, “Sunflower Gatherings”. All in all it was a great day learning, spending time with fellow quilters and stitching! I can’t really complain about that!

I am truly blessed; I hope you were blessed with your daily threads. Love and hugs,

I love the Arkansas Crossroads quilt. It looks great in the thirties fabrics which I like too. Reminds me of the old time “Quilting Bees” that were held at my Aunt’s house. The frame was suspended from the ceiling and the “Bees” sat around the quilt in straight back chairs. When they stopped quilting for the day, it was pulled back up to the ceiling by small pulleys and ropes until the next gathering! Sweet memories. Love that Goose in the Pond block too.
