How has your day been? We are gearing up for market/festival at England Design Studios. Cynthia has been working on a new book and it will appear at Houston show in October/November. It also has lots of new patterns in the book, so we will be kitting the patterns and I had the hard task of searching for fabrics online. It was fun, but it wasn’t as easy as one might think!
Thursday night, I am leaving for Arkansas to watch my 2 of grandkids, Hunter and Hailey so I thought I would do some prep work on another project that I have been waiting/wanting to start. So, no bike ride tonight, it has been so hot so I decided to get stuff ready for my trip instead, plus I get to go do more yard work tomorrow night!
I know – start another project before I finish the red and white Lincoln’s Watch by Red Crinoline Quilts. Well it is hard to put it aside, but I need to have something to work on when the little ones don’t need me, you know, just in case.
I am working on my first wool project. It is a block of the week (yes, week) for 13 weeks from Primitive Gathering Quilts. This morning before work I traced the piece on my background fabric and I also traced the pattern pieces on my fusible and then ironed it on my wool. I am getting it ready so use my embroidery thread, using the blanket stitch.
I do highly recommend Karen Kay Buckley’s applique scissors, they hug the fabric and it makes it a lot easier to cut the wool pieces and regular fabric too. Cynthia uses them all the time!
I got one block ready! I have to say it is a little small, the blocks finish at 4-inches. I decided to start with the little block sets so I didn’t mess up the bigger ones that are 12-inch finished and make sure I know what I’m doing.
I am truly blessed; I hope you are blessed by your daily threads, love and hugs.
