What a Sweet Saturday!

I had a marvelous day here; hope you did wherever you are! It’s been a pretty productive day with the basic laundry, changing sheets, went to grocery store and Starbucks. I even put on a pork roast for a late lunch/dinner in the crockpot and David graciously washed my very dirty car and I detailed it. This has been a superb weather day in the Houston area! I wish I could order these up all year long.

I finished another set of half square triangles for my trade group, and got them all sorted out in groups of 10. Each person gets 100 half square triangles each month, by the end of the year we will have 1200. That is a lot of HST’s. I will have to come up with a great pattern to use them all. I’m the group leader so I took them down to meet Melody at the Painted Pony and ran into some friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. I saw Linda and her two friends, Karen and Susan from Omaha, Nebraska – it was nice to see and visit with them for a bit.

I managed to get the piping/binding fixed, trimmed and the sleeve made and attached, now I’m sewing the binding down. It sure seems like there are a lot of little things to do before he quilt is completely finished. I still need to do the label; with my software not working I’m not sure how I will get my label done. I have to put my thinking cap on.

I belong to the Baytown Area Quilt Guild and our quilt show is quickly approaching. It is on May 3-4. I got the idea to take a rusty old sewing machine and clean it up and make a lamp out of it. My neighbor, Mr. Rose did a great job cleaning it up. Thank you, Mr. Rose. David and I drove to Home Depot to get a lamp kit this evening. Hopefully we/he can work on it tomorrow. I bought a lampshade for it today; I plan on jazzing it up a tad. This will be a silent auction item. Hopefully it will look good and bring in some money for the guild.

I enjoy piecing quilts and getting to know people, as well as sharing the information I have on sewing. I love the sense of accomplishment once I'm finished.
