After getting home and before going downtown to hang quilts I had the opportunity to work on some of Primitive Gatherings, Magic of Christmas blocks. I was able to catch up on 10, 11, 12 and 13! Wahoo! I sure am enjoying these little blocks!
Wednesday I had the opportunity to hang quilts for the upcoming Houston Quilt Festival. Each year all the quilts that come out of the huge magical boxes with all their grandeur amaze me! We hang the quilts by category and I have to be reminded about what each category they are, i.e. mqs, p, div, etc.
Wednesday was the first day of hanging and it seemed to have a slow start just because all the teams are not use to working together and it is hard for all the new people to know exactly what works well and what doesn’t.
Regardless, you can enjoy some of the eye candy I got to drool over!
Also, as I was going to the back to go to the restroom, I just happen to see my Primitive Gatherings, Sunflower Gathering quilt. It is entered in the guild award winning quilts, it is not a judged entry, just one to look at, just the same I’m very proud of that quilt and I LOVE it. I also got to see some other beauties!
Later, I got to help hang Cynthia England’s “Reflections of Capetown”. She did such a magnificent job on this quilt; it really DOES look just like the picture. I am so proud of her and what all she was able to accomplish, it was fun watching it evolve into a quilt and seeing her hands and eyes work their magic.
I was talking to one of the ladies that’s always there and I was asking her about what happens when they get to the top and how do they compete? She told me that they really just stand-alone.
This creator entered a couple of years ago with her 3 faces (Oprah, Mother Teresa and Jackie Kennedy) and this entry was incredible as the past entry. It’s amazing!
Notice how realistic the frame looks, this is all cloth!
Here are the other quilts that I got to photo – this can be your teaser to come out!
The winners will be revealed tomorrow night!
I am truly blessed; I hope you are blessed by your daily threads. Love and hugs,
