Happy Sunday

I sure feel like I’m one happy girl and on top of the list – I’m home! I’ve gotten to go a few places since I wrote last.

First David and I were invited to join the Winfield’s and two other couples – Cathy & Rex and Cheryl & Joe. We had a great weekend in LaGrange at their farm, it was wonderful just getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoying their company and the food was great. We had pre-planned menus and sides, the guys even went off to Shiner to see the brewery and the girls stayed home and did some handwork. You know there are stars out there! Ha! Anyway, thanks so much to Chuck and Brenda for hosting all of us!

On our way out, we drove by “The Quilted Skein” and I just had to pick up their license plate and a few new Kaffe fabrics. Then homeward bound.

A couple of days later it was time to pack and load up to go to Camp Blanding in Florida for 5 days. Oh how sweet it was! Cynthia R drove and it was just marvelous, we had the best time ever! I got to sew up a storm!

I even got to do some of my Primitive Gatherings SBOW, My Crazy Life blocks. These are one that are finished during our long road trip.

I also got to pick up 3 small quilted quilts! I love my small quilts and a big thanks goes to Pat Meeks from Florida who did the tiny stippling styled quilting on my Frivol, my Primitive Gatherings small Snowman mat and my little log cabin quilt. Now I need to do the bindings and labels for them.

One of the things that I enjoy is seeing all the different projects that people work on, here are a few pictures.

I got weeks 2 and 3 of my Primitive Gatherings SBOW, Among Friends done. It took me a full day to do one week and that was having all the half squares sewn and ready to sew together.

After I finished the friendship stars I got to work on some bow tie blocks. I got about 250 little blocks made and then I decided to do some organizing of my blocks that were sewn. I decided to make a pile of all the duplicates and set them aside so I wouldn’t have to search through the piles each time to see if I had used it or not. That took a good bit of time, more time than I wanted it to, but now it is done and I don’t have to think about that again.

After the organizing, since I have 36 blocks and 12 colors, that meant that I needed 3 of each color for each block, so I just reached into my color piles and pulled 3 and then arranged my blocks. So much simpler to do it that way and faster! Wahoo! Therefore, now I have 2 more blocks so I can visualize how it is going to come together! I love it!

Tuesday, August 2, we headed home. Cinderella had to come back to reality. We left Starke, FL at 7 and David picked me up on I-10 and we got home about 8:20. It was the best time ever!

While I was away, one of our family’s long-time family friends passed away, Carlton Kuenstler. He had a heart attack and was gone and he didn’t suffer any. We lost his wife back in September and it just didn’t seem like it was time that he had to go. He blessed so many for 84 years and he will be dearly missed, but it is comforting to know that he is with his beloved wife. The visitation was Wednesday evening.

After the visitation, I drove to Tyler so I could be “granny” for a few days. Kara and Kyle started back to work after being off for the summer, so I got to stay with Adley and Bennett. He turned 7 weeks old while I was there. He is growing so and has not seemed to hit his stride yet on eating and sleeping, so he was fussy off and on, but it was fun spending time with them. Kyle and Kara had moved the prior weekend so they were still in boxes, but she had a very kind and generous friend arrive Saturday morning to help unpack and get them moved in. I got to help with Bennett and he decided to make sure I gave him proper attention. 😉

A little after noon, I headed home again. Things seem to have been a bit of a whirlwind lately; maybe this is my new normal. Ugh! I stopped by Toys R Us and picked up a birthday gift for Wyatt, Katie planned his party for that evening, so that was up next on our agenda.

I can’t believe that he is 4; it was a fun party and great to be with all of them! I love my grandkids, they add so much to our family and each has a special place in my heart.

The last few nights, I got to sleep with Adley in her twin bed, as nice as that was, I got to sleep in my own bed last night! It is great to be home!

I am truly blessed; I hope you are blessed by your daily threads. Love and hugs,
Ronda
