Hospital Hopping

Thursday morning I was able to offer a dear friend “moral support” as she began her pre-surgical breast cancer procedure. Medicine has become more and more technology driven and I don’t really even pretend to understand all the words so I’m glad I was moral support instead of medical support. She had asked me to be with her a couple of weeks ago when I didn’t know I had anything planned.

Tuesday, I got word from my middle son, Kyle that he and Kara would be scheduled for induction on Thursday if the baby didn’t come before then. I talked to him on Wednesday and asked if he would mind if I wasn’t in Tyler that morning, since I had committed to be with my friend and that as soon as I could, I would be on my way. He said that was fine.

My friend’s procedure went very well and after we had an early lunch, then I was on my way to Tyler. A baby coming sure does bring newness to life. There have been so many horrific happenings in the news lately that it really makes one wonder about “what’s the world coming to”? What happened to the “golden rule” and leave the place better than you found it mentality? That is how I was raised, so it is really hard for me to understand all the hatred out there. I hope and pray that God does prevail as well as goodness.

I got to Tyler around 3 and no baby yet, so I was happy for me that I hadn’t missed the birth, but sad for Kara – I told her that she didn’t need to wait on me, but I was glad she did. We laughed. She was given an epidural this time and was feeling pretty good.

At 5:06 p.m. Bennett Clark was born and he was absolutely perfect! Adley wasted no time exclaiming in chant, “she was a big sister”! I don’t think I have ever seen an older sibling sing and be as excited as she was. It was just precious!

Look what Kara made for her door and for home, she did a great job – I sure thought it was cute!

Kara made this, it was on her door today.

I am truly blessed; I hope you are blessed by your daily threads. Love and hugs,
