That is what Mazatlan means in Spanish. I can’t help but feel that this is a little slice of heaven here. We are really enjoying our stay here and having a great time, along with meeting the most amazing people. The locals here are very warm and welcoming.
We got here Tuesday around noon and were very blessed to have met a wonderful couple going to Mazatlan. As we were getting on the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel we asked where they were from. They were from Erie, PA as they’ve been coming here for 11 years and were very helpful giving us information and tips that we should or could do while we were here. The most interesting part was where they were from, Erie. David was there in September to run the marathon, so it felt like it was meant to be. Their names were David and Ene and were coming to spend 6 weeks here to escape their winter.
Tuesday we just hung out here and enjoyed our gorgeous view from our room.
I have even gotten a little stitching time in. I got to completely finish my Primitive Gatherings block #5 and I finished up a few other blocks that just needed some detail work. Luckily I got block #6 prepped before I left home, so I’ve got it started.
Wednesday we booked a couple of tours for Thursday and Friday and later we went to meet our new friends David and Ene at their place. We were introduced to several of their friends and then we to a local place for dinner. We had a great time!
Thursday we had to be out the door at 9:30 to go on our Los Osuna tequila tour. We got to see the countryside and learned a lot and then we went to another town called El Quelite and went to an authentic restaurant there. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed watching their cats, chickens and roosters just walking around while we ate. It was fun and then we loaded the bus and were taken back to our hotel.
Our new friends, David and Ene came over and had dinner with us and I got to see the most amazing sunset and we were serenaded, she has a couple of favorite songs. ☺ It was an amazing day!
Today, Friday we took a tour of the old city, Mazatlan. It was fun, we got to go to the local market and do some shopping, and then we saw their cathedral, opera house and other historical city sites and then ended it with a cliff diver. I have to say I was a little nervous about him jumping into 5 feet of water!
Ok, now we are back at the room writing and listening to roar of the ocean. It is a hard life, but someone has to do it. 😉
I am truly blessed; I hope you are blessed by your daily threads. Love and hugs,
