David and I got an early start putting on the finishing touches at the house, he drove over to the house and I did a few things at home before heading over. We had a last minute glitch, no stove and I didn’t have a percolator and I couldn’t even find one to purchase. Cheryl came to the rescue and managed to take care of the wassail for me. Brenda was on light bulb duty and rescued me with brighter light bulbs and a new flag and pole. Cathy came over early to help put finishing decorating touches on the house and to make the last bed.
I think the open house was a huge success and we had about 100 people come over and see the changes we made. We even were visited by 3 of the 5 family members that grew up in the house and they were very complimentary and appreciative of what all we had done. It made me feel good knowing they approved. I was even thinking the other night that I hoped that they would be proud of all our work.
I am very pleased with all the changes that we have done, I might change a few things, but I think that falls under the category of hindsight. John did surprise me with a new mantle and it really looks awesome. The backyard looks really good and that was a call he made – good call, John. I guess looking at all the construction for such a long time blurred my mind.
Thank you to all the ones that took time out of their busy schedule to come over, David and I know how precious your time is and we really appreciate your support. A very special shout out goes to Uncle Jack for traveling all the way from The Woodlands to come and visit us. It really meant so much, I love you Uncle Jack!
A huge thanks goes out to Cathy, Cheryl, Brenda and Mom for going the extra mile helping out with the food and even the clean up. Most of all, how do I express my thankfulness to David, he has been there through it ALL! Even when I have been grouchy and short on patience, he has hung in there and truly been so very supportive. David, I could not have done it without you and I have sure enjoyed working with you! Babe, I’ll be your wing-girl anytime!
After everyone left, we did a little more cleaning up and then shut it down. It was kind of sad to leave, we have been working so hard for so long and now we can finally turn it off and go home at a decent hour. I’m already in my pajamas and sitting on the sofa. Life is good!
We still have some things to iron out; if you have a particular concern please let me know. You are free to go to the website and find out information regarding making reservations. It has information regarding rates, minimums and maximums.
We do have an “open enrollment” for a class coming up in February 12-15, 2015 with Paula Barnes and Gloria Parsons. It is a miniature traditional piecing class and 2 wool projects. Open enrollment means it is open to you, I only need your registration form and your deposit. The information is also on the website, should you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I am truly blessed; I hope you are blessed by your daily threads. Love and hugs,
Ronda
